Industry Testimonials

Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons

At Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons we have been working with ITS Malta since 2012 providing six month internships in our 2* Michelin Restaurant. We have found that the students that ITS Malta recommend to us are extremely reliable and a good fit for our company culture. The level of passion that these students show for the Hospitality industry has been outstanding and they are exceptionally hardworking. We look forward to continuing our excellent relationship with ITS Malta in the future and welcoming more of their bright students for internships with us.

Mariella Giuliano

Director of Human Resources

The longstanding partnership between Corinthia and ITS has provided the former with consistent high calibre students committed to excel through their individuality and the skill set acquired through the Institute’s programmes. The success of this partnership lies in the continuous efforts exerted by the ITS members of staff to continuously deliver the required skill sets needed by the industry through open lines of communication with employers.

Véronique Gabriel

Director of Human Resources

As Human Resources Director, I was privileged to start several years ago the collaboration with the ITS institute in Malta. Yearly we could learn from each other and set up a successful relationship together. This resulted in accepting students from the ITS institute for an internship in Crowne Plaza Brussels Airport. In the first phase it was only the culinary art students we were welcoming, but recently we could enlarge the group to service and management level.

The quality of education is valuable and the students are really developing themselves. This is not only developing the technical skills, but working and learning in a different culture. The international exchange helps them to return stronger and ready to graduate!

HR & Training Executive

Ever since the hotel opened its doors back in 2003, InterContinental Malta has always been committed to support the Institute of Tourism Studies, by offering the opportunity to a good number of students the possibility to undertake their practical and management placements within our departments.  It has always been encouraging to welcome students that are highly trained, knowledgeable, motivated and as passionate as we are in delivering a great service to guests.  The programmes of study offered by ITS has always ensured that students are equipped with the necessary academic  and practical skills set, which helps students and graduates in the transition from an educational setting to the work environment, making them highly employable and an asset to have for the company.  A testimony of this is the fact that 30% of the employees across all levels of the organisation at InterContinental Malta, together with another 6 employees working in IHG properties worldwide (ranging from New York, UK, Middle East and Australia) are ITS graduates.

Caroline Lowe

Director of Human Resources

I have been working with ITS since the opening of the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 in the Summer 2011. The ITS students who have joined us for their internship period have been hardworking, professional and motivated. The process from receiving CV’s, interviews and the arrival of the students is well organised, and with a very open communication from the teaching and administration support team. We enjoy working with ITS and look forward to supporting future internships.

Grand Hotel Excelsior is proud of its excellent relationship with ITS. This strong affiliation goes back to March of 2007, five months before the hotel opened, when we participated in an open careers week that was held at the ITS premises. Over the years we have hosted a number of students for their placements, and have subsequently employed several ITS graduates, many of whom now occupy executive and managerial positions. The structure of the ITS programme, combining theoretical and practical learning, ensures that students have the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to work in the hospitality industry with confidence. This year, we are satisfied to have confirmed a good number of students who will be joining our team for their summer placement. We believe that these individuals will assist us in continuing to provide a superior service quality to our guests.

MCIPD  Human Resources Director

We have been taking ITS Students since 2010 and we have always been incredibly impressed by the high standards and skills of the students, as well as the passion they have displayed for the industry and their chosen subject.  We have mainly taken kitchen students who have had to fit into a fine dining kitchen which the students have done. Not only have the fitted in well but we would happily employ them at the end of their placement so that they could become permanent members of the team.

HR Manager Panorama Hotel Prague

Panorama Hotel Prague had the honor to start in 2011 a partnership with the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) Malta.

Since then our hotel has been hosting students who ITS students are developing their hospitality skills in a real working hotel environment, facing every day challenges with guests, colleagues and suppliers. Internship pupils are being trained in Front Desk, FB Operations.  Work shadowing management is part of their developments as well. The students are living together with us the “Spirit of Corinthia”.

We have enjoyed a fruitful cooperation with this educational institution. The whole process starts with a proper and consistent communication with the school and the internship candidates. This way, students come prepared and are ready for the big change in their lives, outside of their comfort zone.
