This restaurant has been named after the standing stone of Qala popularly known as menhir which is to be found just across the street from the ITS Hotel School.

This standing stone is a massive pillar of local coralline limestone embedded in the ground. It is possibly the sole remnant of a structure belonging to the World famous temple culture of the islands of Malta and Gozo dating between 4100 – 2500BC. It also features in the most popular folk tale of the locality. It is believed that a giantess transported the stone on her head from Ta’ Ċenċ to Qala to sit on it while grazing her sheep. The strength of this woman was attributed to her diet of broad beans. During the early years of the twentieth century, the top of the stone was flattened and a statue of the village patron saint, Saint Joseph placed on top of it.

The objective of our restaurant is to provide instructional training to our young learners, to give ‘ good value for money ’  and to entice the guest to select a bottle of wine from our selective wine list, in order to provide adequate practical opportunities and exposure to our students.

The result is an interesting wine list featuring 26 different good quality and popular wines from the Maltese islands.
