The Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) has launched a new accredited award for real estate agents and consultants. The award, is open for those already working in the real estate industry and prospective agents and consultants who would like to improve their knowledge and skills through an accredited award. The award was developed by ITS following demand by real estate agencies to bridge an existing knowledge and skills gap when dealing with potential foreign real estate clients who are interested in buying property in Malta and Gozo. The award includes modules from the HND in Tour Guiding course and specific industry related module, Successful real estate selling skills.
Participants will learn how to handle all aspects related to property, from finding potential buyers, maintaining house integrity, and making sure tenants respect their contractual obligations while taking into consideration the beauty, advantages, history and traditions of the Maltese islands.
The course will prepare participants to deal with their prospective clients, taking the proper approach, give value added to the clients through history, managing negotiations and closing sales efficiently. The sales module will teach effective ways of how to manage, administer and sell property owned by third party.
The real estate award holds 17 ECTS, and is spread over a sixteen-week period. The course is held in the evenings.
The Minister for Tourism Edward Zammit Lewis praised the Institute of Tourism Studies for playing a pivotal role in the current success of Malta’s tourism sector. “To be among the best tourist destinations, we must consistently invest in our human resource while ensuring that the tourism workforce skills and qualifications are updated and constantly aligned with the needs of the industry itself."
The institute is working relentlessly in order to develop and expand the spectrum and the quality of the level of education and training offered to its students by widening and improving the selection of courses on offer, always aiming at the highest possible standards, and in line with Government's strategic objectives for the tourism sector" stated the Minister.
There is strong competition by other countries that also promote property for foreigners hence this training will help in improving our services offered in this sector. “Our aim is to help deliver courses aimed at the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. When we were approached by the real estate industry after initial discussions we still felt we should help as at the end of the day the end clients are still tourists with the added value of being potential estate customers” stated Pierre Fenech CEO of ITS.
Applications are now open and interested applicants can apply at Registrar’s office located at ITS in St’Julian’s between Monday and Friday 08:00 till 17:00.
