Prospectus

The Prospectus is the document you need to discover our course offerings, the eligibility criteria of each, the MQF level of each course, as well as general information, contact details and other essential points.


Applications

Application dates for programmes of studies starting 30th September 2024 are the following:

International NON EU – 18th March till 31st May
Maltese and EU – 17th June till 11th August
Late applications EU Malta MATSEC/SEC Resits – 23rd September till 28th September

The Application Process

Choose your preferred Course and Start an Online Application

First, create a username and password. Your username and password will be your permanent login. If you forget your username and password, you can create a new one anytime.

Next, decide which course is best suited for your goals and schedule. You can find a detailed explanation of the courses on each course page.

Gather Necessary Documents Before Starting the Application

You must have your documentation, including your Identification Document (ID Card) available, to quickly process your application. However, if you do not have the original documents, photos or scans may be acceptable. During application processing, we may contact you via email or telephone for further details or clarifications. Please be sure to include your correct contact information.

  1. Prior Qualification Certificates / Transcripts / Results (in case of O / I / A levels).
  2. Maltese Residence Card (If you are living in Malta but you have a different Nationality).
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Europass Format.
  4. Selfie – A photo of you from your shoulders up, face against a white background and in clear resolution, clear resolution, for use on your school ID tag.
  5. A Food Handling License is required for courses involving practical kitchen, restaurant, and event sessions. If you do not possess this license, you will have the opportunity to apply for the Food Handling Course.

Submit your Application

Submitting your online application is easy. Once you are sure you have completed the form correctly, press submit.

Once you submit your application, the site will direct you to a payment gateway page where you will be asked to submit a non-refundable REGISTRATION FEE of €25 for Maltese and EU nationals, and €100 for non-EU nationals who need visas or permits to attend courses in Malta. . This fee is separate from course tuition.

Congratulations! You are on your way to realising your new career! If you forget your username and password, you can create a new one anytime.

Learning Agreement, Rules & Regulations

The last page of your application will have links to the Rules & Regulations and the Learning Agreement. Please read the documentation carefully. You will need to agree to these for your application to be finalised.

Application Processing

Once your application is complete, and the registration fee is verified, the Registrar's Department processes your application. Processing of details and requirements may take time. Please be patient. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email with an Acceptance Letter or denial notification. Your Acceptance Letter is an essential document to be kept.

During application processing, we may contact you via email or telephone for further details or clarifications. Please be sure to include your correct contact information.

Uniforms, Fees and Maintenance Grants

Your Acceptance Letter will include links for uniform details, maintenance grant, language choices (where applicable) and other information which is relevant to your courses. You will want to refer to these link and information during your studies.

Where to submit necessary documents?

All documents are to be submitted on the online application. If ITS asks you for additional documentation, ITS will direct you on how to submit it accordingly. In case of difficulties, please contact the Registrar's Department at registrar@its.edu.mt for assistance or phone +356 23 793 100.

Malta Qualification Framework

The Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) was officially launched on the 8th January 2021 and is legislated by the revised Education Act, which came into force on the 1st January 2021. Our tagline is 'Quality Education for Confident Futures.' Further Education: All non-compulsory formal, non-formal, and informal learning serves to obtain a national qualification classified up to and including level 4 of the Malta Qualifications Framework or a foreign qualification at a comparable level. Higher Education: All non-compulsory formal, non-formal, and informal learning or research serves to obtain a national qualification classified at level 5 of the Malta Qualifications Framework or higher or a foreign qualification at a comparable level.

Entry requirements

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS (for Foreign Students and students applying through the maturity clause)

At the Institute of Tourism Studies, English is the language of instruction. It is essential to have a sound level of English language skills in writing, speaking, listening and reading.

When applying to pursue studies at ITS, international students are required to indicate their level of English proficiency by having obtained a minimum score in at least one of the following.

In lieu of the above, holders of international Degrees and/or Diplomas may provide evidence for consideration that their course leading to their qualification was delivered in English.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students are required to confirm the EQF (European Qualifications Framework) Level of their qualifications as part of their entry requirements. This may be done either by means of a written declaration and/ or certification from the educational institution that awarded the qualification/s or else by submitting their qualifications to Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) for vetting.

GRADE POINT EQUIVALENCES FOR LEVEL 5 AND LEVEL 6 (MATRIX)

A combination of a minimum of 3 Advanced and Intermediate Levels, one of which needs to be an Advanced Level (MQF/EQF Level 4) pass. These must add up to a minimum of 44 points as per the matrix provided below.

The table below explains the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) Levels and corresponding SEC grades as specified in the Referencing Report authored by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHE).

MQF-table
