HR Manager Panorama Hotel Prague
Panorama Hotel Prague had the honor to start in 2011 a partnership with the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) Malta.
Since then our hotel has been hosting students who ITS students are developing their hospitality skills in a real working hotel environment, facing every day challenges with guests, colleagues and suppliers. Internship pupils are being trained in Front Desk, FB Operations. Work shadowing management is part of their developments as well. The students are living together with us the “Spirit of Corinthia”.
We have enjoyed a fruitful cooperation with this educational institution. The whole process starts with a proper and consistent communication with the school and the internship candidates. This way, students come prepared and are ready for the big change in their lives, outside of their comfort zone.
What we have appreciated most when working closely with ITS is that they tell us what they expect from us with regards to students’ development, and how we can help them become better and more skillful. ITS communicates with us throughout the whole educational process.
ITS on the other hand understands our Panorama Hotel Prague operation. So far the experience was great as the students coming to us were well prepared for the life in Prague; they all embodied true Maltese hospitality skills and demonstrated their willingness to learn.
We all are very pleased to see young professional gaining new skills and growing with us, and in some cases even witness a real attitude and personality change. Students learn both hard skills and soft skills with us, talking to customers on a daily basis, dealing with every day real life situations, serving food and experiencing every day challenges from the management point of view.
We are evaluating the students regularly, providing them with an environment to celebrate their success. Two students were already awarded Employee of the month.
I personally hope that ITS and Panorama Hotel Prague are going to continue on this journey. As ITS students are learning from us, we are learning from them.
