MEDFORIST was a project aimed at implementing a Euro-Mediterranean network for sharing information systems and technology (IST) resources. Started in August 2002 and completed in 2005, MEDFORIST falls under the Euro-Mediterranean Information Society (EUMEDIS), an initiative of the European Union, ultimately aimed at setting up an information network system among European and Mediterranean universities and institutes in the field of information technology (IT). The project was coordinated by Centre TIME of the Grenoble école de Management.

The Institute of Tourism Studies was the partner from Malta, together with other non-EU countries from the Mediterranean, including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Cyprus.

Four lecturers at ITS were trained in E-Commerce, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, and Enterprise Resource Planning.

As a result of the participation in MEDFORIST, ITS launched its Centre for E-Learning Technologies and the e-learning platform, one of the first in Malta.
