The Maltese VET-CCS project aims to develop a national understanding of ECVET, its elements, scope, advantages and the importance of its implementation at both national and European level. The Institution of Tourism Studies is one amongst several stakeholders chosen as national partners within the project consortium. The Malta Qualification Council is coordinating the VET-CCS project being the entity responsible for the development and implementation of ECVET (Educational Credits for Vocational Education Training). A number of courses already running at ITS are being alligned to the ECVET system. This will give ITS students comparable opportunities should they seek postings in the Tourism sector on mainland Europe. A number of VET modules will be converted into ECVET which will serve as a piloting exercise for the ECVET conversion system. A national template for qualitfication decriptions will be developed and this will be used for allocation of qualifications to the levels of the MQF.
