There are various transportation methods around the island, both private and public transportation. The proximity of the ITS campus to the airport means that there is a public transport hub 10 minutes on foot from the Institute. One can travel by public transport, by purchasing a Tal-Linja card. The prices for the card can be found on the MPT Website. One can view the schedule and routes for Maltese public transport buses on the Malta public transport website.
One can also download the tal-linja app on their mobile device. This application gives real-time information on the services offered by the Malta Public Transport.
Public transportation is not only limited to land as there are also ferries that can shuttle the visitor from Valletta to Sliema, as one can see from their schedule it varies according to the time of the year. Ferries can also take one to Malta’s sister Island, Gozo. The schedule for the various trips can be found by clicking here.
Travelling to ITS by bus?
Travelling to ITS: You can stop at Avjazzjoni (283) which has the following routes: 71, 72, 73, 117, 135, 218, X1, X2, X3 and X4. Then use the yellow bridge to close the road, enter from the main entrance and keep walking toward ITS Block B.
Another bus stop is Cintra (285) which has the following routes: 71, 72, 73, 117, 201 and 218. When stopping at Cintra (direction towards Ħal Kirkop), you can cross the street using the traffic lights and then walk to the left to find a footpath. This footpath will lead you towards the campus in front of Block A.
Going back home: Avjazzjoni (320) direction to Marsa or Luqa has the following routes: 71, 72, 73, 117, 135, 218, X1, X2, X3 and X4. This bus stop is outside of the entrance under the yellow bridge
Cintra (319) direction towards Luqa which has the following buses: 71, 72, 73, 117, 201 and 218. This bus stop can be found by using the footpath and walking towards the Luqa Airport roundabout.
Students travelling to Ħal Kirkop, Ħal Safi, Mqabba, Qrendi and Żurrieq can make use of the footpath and catch the buses that stop on the other side of the road.
For your own safety, please make use of the traffic lights when crossing the road to come or leave campus.
Driving to ITS?
If you are driving to ITS Luqa campus, you need to follow the latest road updates.
When approaching from Marsa/Luqa, please keep to the left and follow the purple route (image below), which will lead you towards Gudja. Continue on this road until you reach a roundabout, where you should take the 4th exit, guiding you onto Vjal L-Avjazzjoni (Aviation Avenue).
As you proceed on Aviation Avenue, stay in the left lane and take the exit located just behind the yellow bridge. Continue along this route, and you will arrive.
International Students
Private modes of transport such as private taxi cabs, hop on hop off buses, car-sharing platforms and scenic ferries are very convenient though they can be more expensive. However, several new taxi companies offer competitive rates and mobile apps that charge by distance driven.
Interested international students can tour Malta's Islands via the hop on hop off bus. It's a great way to get to know the island economically. Certain parts of the island, such as Valletta and Rabat. Scenic ferry and boat trips such as Blue Grotto and Grand Harbour for hire can tour the island during the summer months.
From Malta International Airport to the Cirkewwa ferry to Gozo, it takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes by bus and 44 minutes by car.

You can choose between two ferry options. The first one is the Gozo Channel (visit their website: www.gozochannel.com), which operates from Cirkewwa, Malta. The second option is the Valletta Ferry Services (check their website: www.vallettaferryservices.com), departing from Valletta and heading to Gozo.
